In West Road I thought I'd stay with a bit of a classic this weekend, Italy;
2013 Eo Pecorino Terre Di Chieti IGT Normally £12.99This weekend -2 for £20
The Pecorino grape was virtually extinct as recent as the 1990's however a handful of adventurous producers are cultivating this varietal and in this case, organically. The wine exhibits notes of ripe white fruits, lemon and jasmine.
The weight and texture comes from barrel fermentation and lees ageing. Sumptuous!
2007 Macri Irpinia Campi Taurasini Normally £17.99 This weekend 2 for £30
What a find this one is, (Nice work Erik), the red grape variety of Irpinia, the Aglianico has aged beautifully in this wine full of pruney fruit, spice and sweet liquorice. A taste of Southern Italy.
