Wines on Tasting in West Road 09.07.16

09 July 2016

Happy Weekend to you all,

Are we starting to see the first glimmers of a Summer?  If so then we need some great wines to enjoy in the garden for some al fresco dining.   I suggest the following £80 per case of six in any mix

2015 La Battistina Nuovo Quadro Gavi del Commune di Gavi Piemonte Italy
£15.99p/b or 2 for £30
An enticing nose of white peach and pear with hints of fresh lime and gooseberry. Fresh and zesty citrus notes and ripe peachy characters are balanced by crisp acidity and mineral notes leading to a textured complex finish.  Surprisingly complexity for the Cortese grape but then the vines average 35 years in age.

2012 Faugeres Domaine La Sarabande Languedoc France
£15.99 or 2 for £30
Exhibiting red fruits, spice-box, licorice and cured meats, the 2012 Faugères Tradition checks in as a mix of 60% Grenache, 25% Carignan and 15% Syrah that was brought up in 60% stainless steel and 40% in neutral barrels. It has lots to love, with medium-bodied depth and richness, smoking purity of fruit and a gorgeous texture that carries through the finish.  Even more fascinating is the fact that the wine is a synergy of Australian winemaking and Irish viticulture.
