10 June 2016
This weekend, and in hope of some decent weather, we'll be showing a couple of BBQ belters - one old, one new.
First the new:
ALERIO - Saladini Pilastri 2015
This organic white is from the Marche in central Eastern Italy. Made from a blend of Trebbiano, Passerina and Pecorino grapes, it's crisp and dry, with hints of citrus and fennel. Elegant and full-bodied it's great with food and is great value.
£9.99 per bottle
£7.99 in a mixed dozen/£8.49 in a mixed 6.
And the old:
AMAUTA MALBEC - El Porvenir 2015
The new vintage of one of our favourites, this is from a small, family-owned winery in Cafayate in north-western Argentina (where the Amauta was the title given to a wise man). The vineyards are an incredible 5,740 feet above sea level and produce small quantities of exceptional wines (with the help of our old friend Paul Hobbs who acts as consultant). 100% Malbec this shows red fruit and spice on the nose and palate - an archetypal accompaniment to grilled meat.
£13.99 per bottle
£11.19 in a mixed dozen/£11.89 in a mixed 6
