Wines on tasting at Vineking, Weybridge, 17th June

17 June 2017

Hi all, I'm away in the south of France visiting my family, but, and I'm sure many of you are missing her, Marta will be back in the shop during my absence and will be showing you these two fantastic wines.

2014 Hoopla Chardonnay Hoopes Vineyard California £22.99/Btl
Hoopla Chardonnay is 100% grown from vineyards in the famed Yountville appellation. The cooling air from the San Pablo Bay flows into the warm valley and allows prime growing conditions for Chardonnay. The fruit ripens slowly and evenly, giving it richness and healthy levels of acidity.

TASTING NOTES
Hoopla Chardonnay is a completely un-oaked Chardonnay. This wine has a complex, lingering taste, without the “buttery” aspects often present in Chardonnays. This Chardonnay has excellent fruit characteristics that include pear, green apple, melon and a hint of vanilla. A clean, crisp palate with a firm acidity gives it structure.

2015 Les Patis,  Domaine Chamfort, Vaucluse  £11.99/Btl
Born in Portugal, winemaker Vasco Perdigao started making wine in Provence before a 7 year stint with Alain Paret in St Joseph. As a result he brings a refreshing northern Rhone touch to the traditional, spicy, gaminess of the south. Bursting with enthusiasm, the dynamic Vasco is clearly a name to watch; not only is the quality on a steep upward curve, but the wines also represent superb value for money across the board.
