Wines on tasting at Vineking, Church St, 14th January
13 January 2017
2016 Hawksdrift Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand We've been fans of Hawksdrift for a while now but this Sauvignon is a relatively new addition to our range. The vineyards are situated in the Dillons Point region of Marlborough which receives more sun than most of the rest of the region. This allows the grapes to ripen fully whilst retaining the advantages of a cool climate. The result is a fresh, complex, textured wine with loads of exotic fruit flavours. £15.99 per bottle, 2 for £30, 6 for £80 and £150 per dozen
2014 Château Mathiot, Bordeaux, France For all you Merlot lovers out there, this "petit château" claret from a tiny estate 30km south of Bordeaux goes to show that great value can still be had in the wines from the region. Attractive, fruit-driven and harmonious, it is a soft and easy mouthful that can be enjoyed with or without food. £11.99pb, 2 for £22, 6 for £60 and £115 per dozen
