2014 Hoopla Chardonnay Yountville Napa ValleyA mild harvest allowed Lindsay Hoopes to pick the vineyard in two sections over a two week period naturally balancing refreshing citrus and apple notes of the earlier pick with more ripe pineapple and tropical fruits of the second. The flavour profile is bright, and crisp – like unoaked Chardonnays – while the mouthfeel is creamy and round – like other oaked counterparts. The proof is in the glass, a just right combination of heady fruit aromas, balanced, refreshing flavours and luscious finish. It should certainly get your tail wagging.

This wine was borne out of a love of Southern Rhone varietals between Rolf Binder, the master of Barossa and the Cambridge wine merchant Noel Young. At a time when many growers were pulling up these vines, Noel and Rolf cherished them and now make a fantastic range of wines with this Grenache showing how elegant a wine it can be.
