Wine on tasting in west road 04.03.17

04 March 2017

As I look out on a cold and wet March morning I am wondering what will put a smile on my customers faces.  Now I don't yet have any control over the weather but I can help with how you deal with it.  And that's where these two wines come in.

While at one of our suppliers tastings yesterday I revisited the wonderful Pasion de Bobal.  Now this has been a perennial favourite for many but I believe there are many who have not yey sampled its deliciousness.  Made from the little known Bobal grape variety in Utiel Requena 1000m above sea level just inland from Valencia this Spanish beauty is brimming with dark fruit and a hint of toasty oak rounded with sweet tannins.  And organic to boot!!
£13.99 p/b,  2 for £25, 6 for £70

You may never pick this up off the shelf on the strength of its label however what lies within is magical. The Holden Manz Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2015 Franschoek demonstrates how the South Africans excel at white wines with beautifully integrated spicy oak character.  An hommage to great white burgundy.
£26.99 p/b, £135 for 6 and 12 for £240
