2015 En Primeur Hot List – 10 Perfect wines under £250

Chateau D'Aiguilhe
Cotes de Castillon
£160ib, 90 – 92 points
“… very ripe and opulent… the palate is very well balanced… with a touch of Christmas cake and allspice towards the finish. This is a very fine Côtes de Castillon from Comtes Von Neipperg.”

Chateau Fombrauge
Saint Emilion
£175ib, 91 – 93 points
“… a rich and generous bouquet with layers of black cherry... the palate is showing more restraint and finesse, clean and pure with lightly spiced red berry fruit, hints of licorice and white pepper... give this 5-8 years once in bottle and you will have a fine Saint Emilion on your hands.”

Chateau Grand Corbin-Despagne
£210ib, 90 – 92 points
“ … has a precise and floral bouquet, wilted violets infusing the dark cherry and blackberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied…  plenty of nascent energy with impressive tension on the long finish. This should offer 15-20 years of pleasure.”

Moulin St Georges
£245ib, 90 – 92 points
“… the bouquet is showing the new oak component, with broody black fruit underneath. The palate is medium-bodied and seems to have absorbed the wood quicker than the nose, smooth and sensual with touches of dark chocolate lining the long finish. Give this 4 - 6 years in bottle.”

Quinault L'Enclos
£235ib, 91 -93 points
“…with intriguing graphite and cedar notes infusing the red berry and cassis…  extremely well defined... there is great length here, an extremely fine Quinault L'Enclos that will give a lot of pleasure with just 4-5 years in bottle.”

Chateau Poujeaux
Moulis
£210ib, 90 – 92 points
“… a high-toned, floral bouquet with kirsch and raspberry coulis notes, opulent … but it manages to retain control.  Solid in the mouth, the finish does show satisfactory freshness, and is long and minerally. This will be intriguing once in bottle.”

Chateau Cantemerle
£210ib, 90 – 92 points
“… plenty of blackberry and raspberry fruit on the nose… plenty of "stuffing… there is a pleasing crescendo in the mouth driven by that Merlot content and it finishes with some swagger. This is a very fine Cantemerle exuding joie-de-vivre that I can see doling out plenty of drinking pleasure over the next decade and beyond.“

Chateau La Tour Carnet
£210ib, 91 – 93 points
“… a very pure bouquet, so much so that there is something almost Pinot Noir-like here…this is very smooth and harmonious, precise and detailed. It gently fans out on the finish, completing what I think is a very well-crafted, silky and seductive Haut-Médoc.”

Senejac
£100, 89 – 91 points
“It has a pure, black cherry, pastille-like bouquet licorice... the palate is well balanced …. with cedar and tobacco furnishing the long finish. This is a well-crafted, capable Sénéjac that deserves 5-6 years in bottle.”

Grand Pontet
£185ib, 91 – 93 points
“… a more opulent bouquet than some of its peers... the palate is medium-bodied with a sprinkle of dark chocolate on the entry. It is a bold Saint Émilion, but it does not push everything too far.”
