Verus

Located in Ormoz · Slovenia

Verus, in eastern Slovenia’s Styria winegrowing region, was established in 2007, when three winemaking friends – Rajko Žličar, Danilo Šnajder and Božidar Grabovac – decided to join forces in converting a former bakery into a wine cellar that would unite their respective family vineyards.

The name ‘Verus’ translates as ‘true, real, genuine and unpretentious’ – and it’s a fitting name for the attitude the team bring to their work here, paying homage to their family traditions and producing wines that are true expressions of the area and the variety.

Vines at Verus are planted on steep slopes that provide the ideal amount of sun for grapes, but protect them from frosts. It’s the perfect growing environment for cultivating native grapes such as Jeruzalem, Kog, Litmerk and Gomila – the varieties that feed into Verus’ collection of distinctively Styrian wines.
