Produced by the historic Scarzello family in the heart of Barolo village, this classic expression of Nebbiolo captures the elegance and authenticity of the Comune di Barolo. Sourced from vineyards in renowned sites including Sarmassa and Terlo, the wine is crafted in a traditional style, with extended ageing in large oak casks that preserves purity of fruit and terroir character.
Bright ruby-red with subtle garnet hues, the nose is wonderfully expressive, revealing aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry, dried rose petals and violet, layered with hints of liquorice, sweet spice, tobacco and woodland earth. On the palate, it is refined and beautifully balanced, combining vibrant acidity with finely structured tannins and impressive precision. Flavours of red berries, savoury spice and floral notes carry through to a long, persistent finish marked by the unmistakable character of traditional Barolo.
Approachable in its youth thanks to the warmer 2022 vintage, yet with the structure to develop gracefully over the next decade or more, this is a superb introduction to the elegant, terroir-driven style of Scarzello.
