2022 Quinta da Raza Vinho Verde Vinho Verde

Quinta da Raza is a family-owned wine estate based around Celorico de Basto, to the east of the Vinho Verde region, with a family winemaking tradition dating back to the 1750’s! The current winemaker, José Diogo Teixeire Coelho, is a direct descendant of the original family and has been involved in the winery since he was 17 years old. The vineyards are all situated at high altitudes of 250 metres above sea level, with high levels of sun exposure and the tempering influence of the nearby River Tâmega, which result in evenly ripened fruit, perfect for making crisp and zesty styles of white, such as this Vinho Verde.

This example comprises 50% of one of the traditional grapes of Vinho Verde (Arinto) and the rest is a blend of 35% Azal and 15% Trajadura, both of which are lesser known on these shores. We think you’ll agree that this is a classic example of the style; it is light, fresh and zesty with a delicate spritz. It has lashings of green apple and lemon zest which make it the perfect aperitif at your Christmas gatherings, and a great pairing for shellfish and seafood dishes.
