2020 Folding Hill Ballasalla Pinot Noir

Ballasalla is the second label of Folding Hill (the top Central Otago Pinot producer). They are absolutely sure that the secret to making absolutely superb wine is very, very low cropping - which means that a lot of fruit is rejected from their first wine.
This is a good thing – not only does it keep the quality of their super-duper Folding Hill Pinot up, it also leaves plenty of wine to go into this – their second. These are superb grapes, which most other growers would give their eye-teeth for.
It is made in a drink-now style, with fresh berry juice and loads of cherry on the mouth. A clean acidity wraps up savoury spice with a lingering endnote – at half the cost of their first wine!
