Calmel & Joseph by White

Calmel & Joseph’s beautiful 160-hectare estate site among spectacular rural scenery in the foothills of the Val de Dagne, close to the UNESCO-listed Canal du Midi and medieval citadel of Carcassonne.

This fabulous location – a former metairie (tenant farm estate), typical of the Languedoc-Roussillon region – was acquired by the company in 2015, 20 years after it produced its first wines. The estate is now run using organic methods, with its isolated setting far from any neighbouring vineyards making it an ideal spot for experimenting with suitable soil interventions and analysing the results.

This location also allows the team to experiment with forgotten or less-known grape varieties, producing these alongside its showcase appellation wines for a range full of variety.
