2021 Strange Kompanjie Unlimited The Tea Leaf White Blend

Grown at altitudes of around 500m, this is a brilliantly interesting Western Cape blend of 3 old vine varieties: Chenin Blanc, Crouchen Blanc and Palomino. In between the bush vines, indigenous rooibos tea plants grow, adding to the biodiversity of the vineyards. The grapes are harvested and manually sorted to ensure that only the very best quality grapes make the final cut. Fermented in large French oak barrels, the wine is bottled only after minimal filtration, which protects the texture of the wine, adding character and depth.

On the nose there are notes of ripe peach, salted butter, and macadamia nuts. The palate is firm with a subtle texture and a savoury yet slightly honeyed finish. Perfect with simply cooked fish dishes, scallops, salt and pepper squid and other light seafood dishes. Try with sushi, it’s a winning combination
