----------------------------------------
Originally established 40 years ago on the Sharpham Estate, the present vineyard site at the Sandridge Barton Estate lies 3km further downstream on the south-facing slopes of the River Dart, perfect for maximum exposure to the sun’s ripening rays and the river’s warming influence. In 2020, the team completed the construction of their brand new, state-of-the-art winery, built in closer proximity to the vineyards than it had been previously. This means that the journey time for the grapes from field to fermentation tank is kept short, helping the winery to reduce their carbon footprint and ensure the fruit arrives at its freshest. Their efforts to protect the local environment have been recognised by their inclusion in the Countryside Stewardship Scheme.
The Dart Valley Reserve is made from Madeleine Angevine, a grape variety native to the Loire Valley, but
which has made itself quite at home in Devon! It is a ripe and fruit driven wine, packed with aromas of stone
fruits such as white peach and palate bursts with sweet apricot and a subtle spice on the finish. The wine is
just off dry in style, which makes this the perfect wine to enjoy on its own or with spiced dishes such as pulled
ham hock with a whole grain mustard dressing.
