Akrathos Winery

Located in Greece

Akrathos Winery is in a beautiful position on the eastern slopes of Mount Cholomon, with views towards Mount Athos and the Syggitikos gulf. The altitude of 550-700 metres means that the organic vineyards are exposed to cool, humid winds coming from the mountains overnight, as well as sea breezes through the day.

These key features of the climate contribute to natural hydration processes for the vines and allow them to grow well with only moderate watering. The indigenous Greek varieties thrive in the shallow, sandy loam soil and the slate subsoil, ensuring low yield and high-quality grape production.

Grapes grown here have a balanced acidity and fragrant aromas with a strong phenolic density that gives them great aging potential.
