This Case Contains Two of Each of the Following:
2020 Bodega Staphyle Dragon de Vino Malbec, Argentina
(93 points - Tim Atkin MW)
IT'S BACK! One of our best selling Malbecs over the last couple of years and this new vintage is just as good as the last! Packed full with glorious notes of plums, raspberries, cherries and chocolate on the nose. The palate is well-rounded, plush with complex fruit and well-integrated oak from 12 months in new 225 litre oak barrels. The finish is long and silky, balancing power and elegance perfectly. A terrific wine that is possibly the best bang for buck you can find from Mendoza. Drinking very well now, but this will age a further 5 years if you have the patience.
2018 Holden Manz Visionaire, South Africa
(16 points - Jancis Robinson MW)
The Visionaire is a terrific wine from Franschhoek and is one of our best sellers. This is a great alternative for fans of Chocolate Block, made from a similar blend of grape varieties and it's a few quid cheaper to boot! Holden Manz Wine Estate, known as Franschhoek's hidden gem, is located in the southernmost corner of the stunningly beautiful Franschhoek Valley. Their style is to emulate the classic French approach to making winemaking whilst not losing the origins of their South African heritage.
On the nose, the Visionaire has lashings of dark, ripe notes of plums/damsons, a touch of chocolate/coffee bean and some lovely integrated oak, with a well-pronounced spice from the Syrah. On the palate, this smooth and elegant wine is full-bodied, juicy with soft, ripe tannins backed by well-balanced acidity.
2021 Logodaj Winery Melnik 55, Bulgaria
Logodaj Winery was established in 1994 in the very heart of the Struma river valley, in the village of Logodaj. Their vineyards cover more than 700 acres, growing native Bulgarian grape varieties such as Melnik. This wine went down a storm at our Winter tasting. Rich and plush in style - a real winter warmer.
The Melnik 55 is full bodied with a dark ruby color and aromas of black cherries and berries, spices, chocolate and vanilla. The finish is soft and long with hints of black pepper and tobacco. This is fast becoming a staff favourite and given it's popularity after our tastings, a real customer favourite too!
