Jesus Madrazo sources this blend of Tempranillo with 20% Graciano, 30% Maturana and 5% Garnacha from three parcels owned by Miguel Angel Muro in Lapuebla and Laguardia. It's a serious, structured wine that reflects the low yields of the vintage, with considerable grip and concentration, layers of fruit and racy acidity.

The red blend 2017 Selección was produced at Muro (where Madrazo is an advisor) with grapes from different places in Rioja (Muro and Maisulan). The blend is 45% Tempranillo, 30% Maturana Tinta, 20% Graciano and 5% Garnacha, which fermented in stainless steel and matured in 225- and 500-liter French and American (30%) oak barrels for 15 months. The varieties are very nicely integrated, and they all seem to bring something to the blend. This is powerful and ripe but with very good freshness and a mixture of Atlantic and Mediterranean characteristics, ripe fruit, aromatic herbs, fine woods and spices and a medium to full-bodied palate that is balanced and has polished and fine tannins. This is a serious and nicely crafted red blend that should develop nicely in bottle. 2,050 bottles were filled in August 2019. The 2018 vintage of this wine is still unbottled. I look forward to it...
