Leopold GOURMEL was a winemaker and saddler of the Ile de R‚ in the 19th century. When Pierre Voisin, his grandson, creates his first cognacs in 1972, he named them after his grandfather. Inspired by the world of great Bordeaux wines, these cognacs come from the best soils that give them strength and aromatic richness. This is the entry level expression from the House of L‚opold Gourmel, who don't use any chemicals or pesticides when growing their grapes. Also noteworthy is their use of un-toasted casks for the ageing of their spirit, resulting in a Cognac with plenty of character.
