Since 2003, Pinot Noir has been permitted in a Crémant de Limoux blend, leading to J.Laurens making their first non-vintage rosé in 2007. Don't let the baby pink colour fool you – La Rose No7 is a seriously good sparkling wine!
J.Laurens produces both Mauzac-dominated Blanquette de Limoux and Chardonnay-based Crémant de Limoux from their 30 hectares of sustainably-farmed vineyards, slightly to the south-west of Carcassone. The domaine was established by Champenois Michel Dervin in the 1980s, and since 2002, it has been owned by the locally-born entrepreneur Jacques Calvel. He has surrounded himself with an expert team led by winemaker Henri Albrus, and he has built the domaine's current reputation for outstanding sparkling wines.
This beautifully balanced wine shows delicate soft stone fruit aromas, nuances of caramel and cream with a nice biscuity finish.
‘Quality over quantity’ is the motto of the team at Domaine J.Laurens, a 40-hectare estate near Limoux with a sole focus on producing sparkling wines under the Blanquette and Cremant de Limoux AOCs.
