At the heart of the Cotes du Provence region lies Ch. La Mascaronne, just outside the medieval village of Le Luc. It's creator however is American. Tom Bove came across to the area shortly after having left the US Navy Seals, and fell in love with a wine estate. In the aftermath of some very fast talking to family members back home, he bought the place and proceeded to turn it into one of the most respected wine estates around. This was the renowned Ch. Miraval.
After selling this to Brad and Angelina back in the day, he did the sensible thing, moved uphill to La Mascaronne. The vineyard was definitely a project: when he found the estate most of the fields were choked with huge boulders which made farming virtually impossible. Once they were removed you had superbly drained vineyards with lots of sun…..absolutely perfect for making great Rose.
Their Quat Saisons Rosé is a beautifully pale rosé in the best Provencal tradition. Intense nose of peach and lemon with large depth of flavour and a remarkably long finish – this is definitely one of those which will drink happily for several years to come – winter and summer!
