Chardonnay is one of the most widely planted grape varieties in the world - and the most versatile. We've put together a mix of our current favourite from around the world.

2021 Yering Station Village Chardonnay, Yarra Valley, Australia
A very well balanced chardonnay from one of Australia's Yarra Valley best know wineries.  The Village family of wines are classic expressions of the varieties that the Yarra Valley does best, letting the bright, vibrant fruit flavours speak for themselves. There is a delicate richness from barrel ferment along with the melon fruit and citrus that fleshes out the mid-palate, which runs through to a long finish.

2022 Lanzerac Chardonnay, South Africa
Steeped in a history dating back to 1692, the Lanzerac Wine Estate, home to the first bottled Pinotage, is situated at the foot of the majestic Jonkershoek Valley of Stellenbosch. This is our best value Chardonnay that has a lovely balanced, full-bodied style and is not afraid of the gentle embrace of oak. This Chardonnay showcases prominent primary citrus aromas on the nose followed by a complexity of flavours including lemon, clover, ginger and vanilla. The palate reveals an excellent balance between fruit, acidity and softness with a lingering aftertaste.

2021 Domaine Aime Blouzard Macon-Peronne, Burgundy, France
The Domaine Aime Blouzard Macon-Peronne is made from three plots: the first planted in the 1990s, the other two are much older, with one plot planted in 1935. The wine is vinified using native yeasts and aged for 8 months in both stainless steel and concrete tanks. The wine is floral and fresh on the nose. The palate is round, with crunchy fruit flavours and fresh citrus notes leading in to a long, refreshing mineral finish.

2022 False Bay On Borrowed Time Chardonnay, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Sited high on The Helderberg is a small block of mature vines, just 1.25 hectares, planted back in 1999. This rare little block sits just 8km from False Bay on a steep, elevated and cooler South-Westerly slope. Delicately whole-bunch pressed in a horizontal basket-press for purest juice. Fermented with wild yeast in 2nd fill French oak barrels. Bottling without fining and only the lightest of filtrations. Minimal SO2 added with no further additions. 1800 bottles made. Notes of honeysuckle, verbena and passion fruit and subtle oak on the nose. A rich and well-structured wine with a rounded palate lifted by fresh acidity.

2021 Avalon Chardonnay, California, USA
Established in 2001 in bucolic western Sonoma County, Avalon offers approachable, delicious wines of unmatched quality. Elegant and well-balanced, with aromas of orange blossom, apple, guava with hints of vanilla and baking spices. These lovely characteristics flow through to the palate leading to a crisp and refreshing finish.

2020 Domaine Fournillon Bourgogne Blanc, Burgundy, France
Absolutely fantastic Chardonnay from a brilliant producer. A must-try for any Burgundy lover. The clay-rich soils of Bernouil give this wine its freshness, minerality, fruit-forward flavours and a textured soft creamy finish. This is a light, fruity, easy-drinking wine. The perfect partner for all seafood and something that over delivers for the money.
