Some of the highest vineyards in the world are found in this area of Argentina – this one is found at a whopping 1,700m above sea level! The yields are kept low for this exclusive wine, with harvest volumes of just 6 tons per hectare (for perspective, Chateau Yquem’s vineyards harvest just 9 tons per hectare). The Malbec and Cabernet Franc grapes are both harvested at their optimum ripeness and post-fermentation the wine is aged in a combination of second-use French oak, and American oak barrels for up to 8 months which gives the red fruit flavours a delicious dose of vanilla spice.
Deep and intense in colour, a key characteristic of reds of altitude, the nose is lifted with bramble berry and a gentle spice. Rich and ripe with juicy dark berry fruit flavours, this is a plush and voluptuous red and is incredibly moreish! Enjoy with grilled meats, especially lamb and beef steak, with spicy marinades.
