Brookdale Estate's winemaker Kiara Scott initially worked as assistant winemaker to renowned winemaker Duncan Savage where they brought to fruition the maiden vintage of the Brookdale Chenin Blanc 2017. This wine established Brookdale’s reputation as a producer of elegant wines with distinct character. Kiara was then appointed sole winemaker at Brookdale Estate in 2019 at the age of only 26, officially the youngest head female winemaker in South Africa.
The Mason Road Syrah appears an enticing, vibrant purple in the glass. The wine only becoming more alluring as you detect the aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, raspberry compote, purple flowers, leather and the obligatory white pepper. The palate displays flavours of berry fruit with spices of pepper, cinnamon and clove. Soft with supple tannins, impressive length and bright, but not brash, acidity.
