2006 Chateau de Lussac Saint Emilion

The 2006 vintage is a blend of 77% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged in 50% new French oak barrels and 50% used French oak for around 16 months. This mature wine is drinking excellently right now and we were all very impressed with it upon tasting. The nose is rich and complex with the aroma of roasted nuts and ripe dark fruits emerging into aromas of toast, dried berries, pepper and black cherry. The palate is silky and round and works with a balanced structure and a hint of black fruit. The finish is long and persistent.

2019 Chateau Puybarbe Gaia de Chateau Puybarbe

Château Puybarbe has existed for several centuries and is located at the highest elevation in the heart of the appellation of “Côtes de Bourg”. The Gaia de Chateau Puybarbe is a blend of majority Merlot, and small quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The wine is fermented at cooler temperature to maintain the fermentation to retain the purity of fruit, elegance and freshness. The nose is full of toasty notes, with roasted coffee and dark cacao, ripe blackcurrants, grilled green capsicum and touch of white pepper. The medium-bodied palate is delicate with its round and fruity mouthfeel and gentle satiny tannins. The finish is spicy and fruity with fine tannins and savoury finish. Not a very complex wine but drinking lovely in its youth and complements various dishes.
