Low rainfall, intense sunlight and wide day-to-night temperature shifts create excellent conditions for grape growing, enabling many wineries to farm organically. Although grapes were grown here 2,000 years ago, modern Ningxia began to take shape in 1998, when extensive research confirmed the region’s potential and large areas were planted with vines.\u003cbr\u003eThe 85-hectare vineyard, planted in 2013 at around 1,160 metres above sea level, benefits from bright sunshine, low rainfall and dramatic temperature swings that help grapes ripen slowly while retaining freshness. Farmed organically and harvested by hand, it produces expressive wines. Then vinified in stainless steel to preserve vibrant fruit before ageing for several months on fine lees for added texture and depth. The result is a balanced Chinese white wine that shows how exciting Ningxia can be and capture the purity and energy of the region.\u003cbr\u003eTasting Notes: This medium-bodied, unoaked dry Chardonnay is pale straw in colour with a subtle green tinge. It opens with lively aromas of citrus, white peach, fresh melon and orange blossom. The palate is crisp and well structured, with juicy peach, grapefruit and ripe melon balanced by a gentle creamy texture and a delicate hint of cashew.
