From one of the leading South African wineries Boekenhoutskloof situated in a corner of the scenic Franschhoek Valley. Whilst first established back in 1776 it wasn't until Marc Kent's ownership that the completely renovated vineyard and estate started to build their current reputation. The Wolftrap is a tribute to the pioneers who in the early days ventured into the Cape wilderness and erected a wolf trap on Boekenhoutskloof.
A fresh, well-balanced Cape white blend from Boekenhoutskloof that combines weight, brightness and easy appeal. Made from Viognier (34%), Chenin Blanc (33%), and Grenache Blanc (33%) with Chenin gives structure and drive, Viognier brings fruit and fragrance, and Grenache Blanc adds breadth and a touch of spice. A light use of oak adds depth without dulling the freshness.
Tasting note: Aromas of citrus blossom and honeysuckle leading to ripe stone fruits with some subtle floral undertones. The Chenin lifts the palate and contributing a generous layer of juicy pear and crisp apple and the Grenache Blanc brings minerality with a subtle herbal elegance. The palate is creamy and textured with a refreshing finish.
Food match: Pair with roast chicken or a creamy pasta or Thai Green curry.
