The Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes are harvested from 30 year old vines planted in the hills surounding the Ebro valley. The Tempranillo vineyards are in the high foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria with limestone-clay soils; whilst the Garnacha vineyards lie in the Najerilla valley, at the foot of the Sierra de la Demanda, with iron-rich clay soils. The grapes are hand-picked into 200kg crates and are sorted by hand at the winery. The grapes undergo 3 days of cold maceration, followed by fermentation in cone-shaped temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The must undergoes daily remontage and delestage. Part of the wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 5 months, and the remainder in concrete on fine lees. The wine is then blended and bottled.
Ripe and appealing blackberry and plum characters on the nose. The palate has vibrant and crunchy berry fruit, juicy acidity, supple tannins and a note of sour cherry, pepper and spice on the finish.
