2020 Réserve Personelle Muscadet

Domaine de la Combe is based in the village of Saint-Fiâcre, one of the very best sites for Muscadet in the appellation. Run by winemaker Pierre-Henri Gadais, who has worked in vineyards all over the world and took over from his father in 2016. Passionate about the expression of terroir and protecting the environment, PierreHenri immediately started converting the vineyard to practice fully organic viticulture and was certified so in 2021. All the grapes for this wine are hand-picked to ensure quality and lightly pressed to ensure delicacy of flavour.

This Muscadet is surprisingly rich on the nose, with traditional flinty notes and aromas of ripe yellow apple. The palate has a lovely texture to it, with the use of old vine fruit adding ripeness and depth. You can really taste the terroir in this wine – schist and gneiss – both add a mineral complexity to the finished wine, a wine that has so much more to offer than you’d normally expect from the style.
