Santenay is the most southerly appellation of the Côtes de Beaune. In the ‘Prarons Dessous’ climat on clay/silt soils lies a 2ha parcel of 50 year old Pinot Noir vines, from which this lovely Santenay Rouge is produced. Hand harvested to allow immediate sorting, and fully destemmed, fermentation is in tank before the wine is matured in oak barrels (15% of which are new) for 13 months.
Classic aromas of gamey Pinot Noir with a core of really quite ripe, fresh red fruits that lends a perfume and prettiness to the nose. Great concentration, supple and vibrant bramble fruit which sits harmoniously with beautifully structured, fine tannins on the palate. Delicious modern Burgundy.
