The Vetus Tinta de Toro and Verdejo are produced at two separate estates both within Castilla y León. The Tinta de Toro (the local name for Tempranillo) is produced from 20 hectares of old vines, located in Villabuena del Puente within Toro. It is a project which was started by Tempranillo experts Izadi in the Toro DO, with their first vintage in 2003. A recent addition to the range is the Flor de Vetus Verdejo, sourced from the Rueda DO which is renowned for its refreshing white wines.

The vineyards are located in the Segovia area of the Rueda DO which lies between Ribera del Duero to the east and Toro to the west. The old bush vines grow at an altitude of 800 metres above sea level in poor, sandy soils and produce very low yields of top quality Verdejo grapes which show brilliant freshness and excellent levels of natural acidity, rarely found in the grapes sourced from other nearby areas. The climate is continental with long winters and dry, hot summers.

Pale yellow in colour. On the nose aromas of citrus and peach are combined with subtle herbal nuances. On the palate, the flavours are well defined and a crisp acidity carries them onto the lively and refreshing finish.
