A great value Aussie red from the Barossa Valley - home of wines with ripe juicy fruit and spice. It's 65% Shiraz with 35% Grenache and was aged in old oak. Classic aromas of full of jammy fruits, blackberries, pepper spice and a little vanilla. Fabulously smooth and a lovely fresh finish. Excellent pairing with a juicy steak or rich tomato-heavy pizza.

This wine comes from the Magpie Estate in Australia's Barossa Valley. It's a partnership between Barossa Valley winemaker, Rolf Binder and UK wine merchant, Noel Young. Established in 1993 when Mourvedre and Grenache were largely forgotten varieties, these two Rhone-philes adapted that great larrikin of the Australian sky - the magpie - as their mascot. Driven by the desire to highlight the Barossa Valley's rich resources of Rhone Valley varieties (Mourvedre, Grenache and Syrah/Shiraz) and to have a good laugh along the way, the pair create a range of superbly crafted varietals and blends that collectively represent the many personalities and expressions of these three noble varieties in the Barossa.
