Georges and Daniel Daou, after fleeing the Lebanese civil war with their family, discovered their shared passion for wine in southern France. Once in California they realised their dream by resurrecting what was Hoffman Mountain Ranch, a Paso Robles pioneer which once had legendary winemaker André Tchelistcheff at the helm. These are truly wines with a story.

DAOU Vineyards is now one of a number of brilliant wineries who have made a name for Paso Robles - not imitators of Napa, but competitors. The estate lies on slopes up to 2,200 feet above sea level, which itself is only 15 miles away. With the Californian sun and those cooling breezes, it is among the world’s best sites for ripening Cabernet Sauvignon.

The wines are everything you want from California: generous, ripe and textured, with creamy, pithy whites and amazingly plush, bold reds. They are all drinking already but will age extremely well if held.

The DAOU Reserve Chardonnay was aged in 50% new oak. It is rich and full bodied with ripe tropical fruit and generous oak influence, balanced by great acidity and pithy citrus which lifts the palate.
