Fattoria Calappiano, in Vinci, the territory of Montalbano represents a historical and architectural treasure of the De’Medici family of Florence. Built around 1500, it was commissioned by the Grand Duke Francesco I De’Medici and was one of the first examples of a Tuscan Farmhouse featuring wine-growing operations.
The Collegonzi is produced with a selection of the best Sangiovese grapes grown on a hilly soil. The wine is aged in large barrels for 12-14 months. On the nose there is an elegant bouquet of crunchy red berries, fine spices, light smoky sensations and floral notes. In the mouth it is lean, agile and fresh, juicy and sapid with a long persistence of spices, red berries and light smoky notes. We were seriously impressed with this wine!
