Bodegas Covila is in fact a co-operative located in La Rioja, that has been making some terrific wines since 1989.
This Covila Rioja Reserva is an incredibly well made wine. that if served blind at a tasting, you would nail as "oh, I think that's a Reserva Rioja!"
Aged for 26 months in American and French oak casks, followed by a few months stored in the vat before bottling. There is a perfect balance between the fruit and the sophisticated vanilla and chocolate nuances added by the oak-ageing process. A ripe fruit attack, followed by a soft, intense mid-palate and a long, aromatic finish.
Some wines are there to stimulate us intellectually and some wines are simply to enjoy.......this very much falls into the latter category.
