2015 La Tour Melas Achinos Greece

Set 300 metres above the Aegean Sea and surrounded by ancient oak forests, the 11 hectares of La Tour Melas were planted with Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot vines in 2001. The entire winery is based around estate owner Kyros's utter love of Ch. Lafleur in Pomerol - and funnily enough, this Cabernet Franc & Merlot blend is as exact a copy as he can produce. To help with this, Elsa Picard, (former winemaker of Ch. Chasse Spleen) left France and settled in Achinos to bring the dream to light.
And what a wine they have made. Ripeblackberry and dark fruits go head to head in a graphite-scented bouquet that is an absolute beauty. Power mixed with quite brilliant precision. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins which just wash over the tongue from beginning to end. This is superb wine, and a pleasure to drink for any lover of serious Bordeaux.
Joseph Rubin-Broad: Everyone knows I have fallen hard for Greek wines and the quality of this incredible wine blows me down every time I try it. Stunning to drink, this wine offers a price-quality ratio that knocks any Bordeaux out of the trees - try it blind against A good St Emilion or Pomerol and see what I mean!
