Two each of the following:
2014 Crocus L'Atelier Cahors Paul Hobbs & Paul Bertrand
A nearly opaque wine with purple tints, offering a bright and harmonious nose redolent of Morello cherry, black plum and blackberries with a hint of ash and leather. The expansive palate is alive with fresh fig, raspberry and redcurrant finishing with earthy tannins with a touch of freshly cracked pepper. A rustic and well-structured wine, befitting to pair with a variety of cuisines.
2017 Bourgogne Epineuil Rouge Domaine Fournillon
Based in the tiny village of Bernouil, just north-east of Chablis, this small family-owned domaine bottle less than 10% of their production so remain relatively unknown. The wines are splendidly typical of the region - crisp and mineral but with an underlying generosity of palate, making them a wonderful yet restrained partner for food. Value such as this is relatively unheard of in Burgundy nowadays!
2016 Avignonesi Cantaloro Rosso
Cantaloro is the entry wine of Avignonesi and is available in white, rosé and red. The wines are fruit forward, easy drinking and accessible. A fantastic option for an everyday bottle.
A versatile, young red wine with a ruby red colour and a bouquet characterised by inviting aromas of black cherry pie, black berries, thyme, red pepper grains and exotic spices. The taste is medium-bodied, fruity and smooth with a long lingering, dry finish, reminiscent of undergrowth, with an underlying hint of menthol.
