The Rácz family, founders of Korona Borhaz, have been growing grapes and making wines for more than 200 years, with the fifth generation of the family now running the business. Their aim is to mix up tried-and-tested Hungarian traditions with the latest technology to create wines that display the true character of the Eger wine region.
The approach here is that top-quality wines can only be created from top-quality ingredients; with this in mind they pay great attention to even minor details of the growing, vinification and bottling processes. The company’s top wines have won several awards on the national and international stage, while the family also ensure that they produce good-value wines that are within the reach of average families.
Alongside producing their wines, the family also run several other enterprises at the winery, including a restaurant, a wellness hotel, a wine shop and a drinks terrace – all with the warmth of a family business. They also run professional events and wine tastings rather like the events often found at Australian wineries and French estates.
