Pinot Noir Karl Johner

Located in Baden · Germany

Karl Johner and his wife Irene founded their little vineyard and winery (known locally as a ‘weingut’) in 1985, returning to their home village of Bischoffingen after 10 years abroad.

The aim of this Kaiserstuhl business was to produce Burgundy wines marked by elegance and full structure. Problems with German wine laws and Kaiserstuhl regulations stood in the way, but eventually the fledgling weingut became established as a pioneer of a new German wine style of international quality.

Today Weingut Karl Johner is known as one of Germany’s best estates, with a strong reputation among wine experts.
