Australian Hollick

Boutique winery Hollick was founded in 1983, in the Coonawarra region of South Australia, where vines thrive in the ‘terra rossa’ soils and the long, cool ripening season.

When Ian Hollick bought the land that was to become a vineyard, he knew it had potential – it had been named as part of the original Coonawarra Fruit Colony in 1890 but never developed as a fruit block, instead finding use as a dairy farm. Ian and Wendy set about planting up the site with a collection of classic varieties including riesling, chardonnay, pinot noir and merlot.

Hollick quickly found great success on the international market, so the couple expanded their growing capacity with the purchase of a further vineyard in 1987, and then another in 1998 – all of which allowed them to diversify and grow their business further. In 2014, the couple accepted a majority investment in the vineyard from Luneng Group, although the family remain keenly involved in the running of their business.
