Domaine Chante Cigale from Rhone

Located in Chateauneuf du Pape · France

The story of Domaine Chante Cigale goes back to 1874, when Hyppolite Jourdan acquired a 28-hectare family property and chose to name it Clos Chante Cigale. Since then it has grown to become one of the most respected family estates of the Chateauneuf du Pape AOC, with current winemaker Alexandre Favier providing careful management to preserve the family’s tradition and heritage.

When Chateauneuf du Pape was declared as the first AOC in France in 1936, then-owner Paul Jourdan was among many local owners to restructure their estate to face the new challenges ahead – in doing so he also renamed the estate Domaine Chante Cigale.

The estate now covers more than 40 hectares of the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation, with a real diversity of soil types to be found across its 45 different plots around this famous terroir. Favier oversees a team that keeps a careful eye on all aspects of production, crafting a collection of unique and exceptional wines.
