2021 Vintage Brookdale Estate

Located in Paarl · South Africa

When proprietor Tim Rudd acquired the Brookdale Estate in the Paarl winelands, he had a clear vision in mind: to transform what was an underused and overgrown property into a world-class country estate where he and his family could forge fresh paths and try new ideas.

The estate is now a place where the Rudd family’s vision is brought to life. Before planting could take place, they had to clear 67 acres of overgrown vines and alien vegetation. Thoughtfully planted vineyards were set up alongside indigenous vegetation and gardens in order to restore balance to the land.

Owner Tim Rudd and winemaker Kiara Scott now oversee a process that brings together the unique Paarl terroir, Mediterranean varietals and less-familiar winemaking techniques to produce intriguing products. These are fine wines that will spark your interest and dance on your palate.

The centrepiece of the Brookdale Estate is an elegant manor house – a beautifully tranquil rural retreat with a stunning backdrop of the Klein Drakenstein mountains. Guests are encouraged to visit and make themselves at home in the peaceful and joyful atmosphere. A restaurant and tasting lounge will soon join the fold, offering interesting menus created by Gary Coetzee and tasting experiences that aim to ‘nourish the mind as well as the palate’.
