Aurelia Visinescu Winery was established in 2003 by oenologist Aurelia Visinescu and her associate Steve Cacenco. Aurelia’s dream to own her own vineyards and winery drew her to this spot in Dealu Mare, where the rich clay and chalk soils combine with the ideal orientation of the hills to create excellent vine-growing conditions.
Across her 82 hectares, Aurelia grows native grapes such as feteasca neagra and tamăioasă romănească along with international varieties including merlot, sauvignon blanc and chardonnay.
The winery has expanded rapidly since its beginnings, with a production capacity of around a million bottles a year. The fermentation process has been completely automated for excellent control, and a high-capacity automated bottling machine has been installed to create the finished product. Underground, more than 400 barriques provide an excellent aging area.
